Hope this bit of info helps. The following info was written on the back of photographs that my parents took while they lived in San Jose from 1928-1930.They lived in an apartment in the home of a Mr. and Mrs Cristina who had ties to New Orleans. The home was on 8th and Martha Streets. There are photos of John Roose (Russo), their son-in-law and his wife, Mae. Tony and Elsie were other children of the Cristina's. Elsie's son was Richard and Mae's daughter was Betty. There was another grandchild, a girl, Bobby.
The Cristina's had a grocery store, a rear attachment to the house. In 1970 I took my parents to visit John and Mae Roose in San Jose. John was 80 years old at the time. Accompanying my parents to San Jose in 1928 (by train) were Mena and Frank Taranto. Both couples returned to New Orleans in 1930 and remained here. I have photograps of others, such as Sal Cristina, his wife and their children Lorraine and Vernon. There is a photo of a Mr. and Mrs. Saltalmachia, their daughter Rose, and daughter Natheline.I don't know where they lived; they seemed to be visiting. There is a photo of visitors from New Orleans, Mamie Serio and her husband Arthur DeFraites and daughter Ma ry Catherine. Visitors from San Francisco in another photo were Giuseppe Lauricella, and sons Dominick and Jack. There is a photo of the home of Frank Najolia who was my mother's cousin.
