A branch of Papanicola, transformed in Italy in Panicola, reached a town near Rome , then called Corniculum in the fifteen century, having escaped from Greece during the local civil wars. The town is now called Montecelio (ROME). The Corniculum Panicola family (of which 4 members are in south Wales- UK),is now reduced to a few individuals. During the sixteenth and seventeenth century gave birth t o some of the richest and most prominent personalities in Rome.
